ANECT´s Customers and Partners Encountered Extraterrestrial Civilization
Saturday 12 June 2010 was the Day for Customers and Partners of ANECT a.s. The event is held every year; this time it was called "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and took place at the Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Ondřejov. The visitors could learn a lot about the secrets of the universe and extraterrestrial civilizations. The organizers had plenty of contests and attractive activities to choose from, including a tour of the Ondřejov Observatory. ANECT has already organized this type of event for the seventh time – the previous years were about planes, horses, ships, the Middle Ages, Africa and fairy-tale characters.
The program of Close Encounters was all presented by professional entertainers Patrik Hezucký and Tomáš Fíla. Little visitors had numerous things to try: some of them got locked up in a soap bubble; others received balloons from the Magician that were shaped as creatures living on other planets. Hardly anyone missed the unique chance to explore the Czech Republic´s largest telescope (with the main mirror being 2 metres in diameter). Those with more courage could also check out an inflatable space shuttle and trampoline, an aerotrim, which simulates weightlessness, a bungee park, slackline where you can check how good you are in keeping balance, and other things such as jumping boots and segway. In addition to that, there was a whole-day contest for children, in which they were competed for the best plasticine model of E.T.
Visitors could also meet a popular fairy-tale character Rákosníček, and chat with famous astronomers Galileo Galilei and Nicolaus Copernicus. They could take a close look at the radio telescopes installed on the Observatory premises and find out how these meteoric radars help us understand the electromagnetic activities of the Sun. Furthermore, people could pay a visit to the local astronomical museum or use a astronomical telescope to look at the Sun.
At the end of the day, contest prizes were given to the winners by Jaroslav Hloušek, ANECT´s Managing Director. The event was attended by 550 people this year.
